Communications Support to the Office of the Deputy Administrator

U.S. DOT, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is dedicated to reducing commercial motor vehicle crashes, injuries, and fatalities. In order to build awareness of FMCSA’s safety-first mission, the Office of Communication and the Office of Outreach and Education collaborate to inform the transportation community about FMCSA’s goals and objectives, safety programs, and policies. MacroSys supported these efforts under contract with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics by providing critical research assistance and public affairs support as well as technical writing services for both offices. Some of the many tasks successfully completed by MacroSys include the following:

  • Assisted senior leadership in developing the communication strategy and stakeholder engagement plan for the Secretary and Administrator-led Motorcoach Safety Initiative.

  • Prepared speeches, talking points, press releases, publications, presentations, web content, Congressional scripts, and other collateral to proliferate the Agency’s safety-first mission with
industry, Government, media, and the public.

  • Compiled reports on media coverage, social media activity, product performance, and customer responses and monitored changes to ensure documents were current.

  • Interacted with and tracked contact with the media, transportation-related associations, the public,
    and other stakeholders.

  • Provided full-cycle solutions to prepare electronic postings and paper mailings using various technologies, including SharePoint, listservs, and social media.

  • Researched existing information and met with U.D. DOT and FMCSA officials, senior leadership,
and technical staff to allow MacroSys to communicate key programs and initiatives to internal and
    external audiences.
